A successful JAX Applicant Process includes:  

  • Newly hired drivers are subject to a minimum 90 probationary period. 
  • At least one interview with members of the JAX Administrative Team.
  • A pre-employment Drug Test.  
  • A pre-employment Background Check and fingerprinting.  
  • Minimum 25 years of age.  
  • Great driving history for minimum past three (3) YEARS.  
  • Not more than one moving violation or one at fault accident.  
  • Motor Vehicle Records are requested upon hire and application information is verified.
  • No DUI or DWI convictions.  
  • JAX provides medical and transportation for Federal and Stated funded programs and  therefore may not be able to hire persons with specific felony convictions. 
  • Applicants must be able to meet DOT physical qualifications (49 CFR 391.41).
  • Driver positions have bona fide physical requirements due to the need to securely fasten  power chairs and wheelchairs, assist disabled riders on and off the bus and safely  evacuate passengers in the event of an emergency. These physical requirements are  considered essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations will be considered  in accordance with the ADA. 
  • Applicants must be able to push, pull, bend, kneel, and stoop regularly and lift up to 50  pounds.

  • Newly hired drivers receive classroom instruction, behind the wheel skill training and  over the road training. They will complete the training program with a CDL with a  passenger and air brake endorsement.
